Abracadabra Fun Magic Tricks For Kids authors Kristen and Ken Kelly

Kristen co-wrote the book at age 11 with her dad Ken Kelly. Ken has been a professional magician for over 35 years and he has entertained all over the world.

Kristen is a pupil of Cardinal Newman High School in Warrington. She entered her local talent contest, Warrington’s Got Talent, and won first place with a magic show when she was only 6 years old.

When Kristen’s friends started asking how they could learn magic too, Kristen decided to write a book to teach children cool magic tricks that they can make and do. Dad helped out with the book planning and Kristen’s mum, Colette Kelly, took some pictures showing the magic tricks in action.

Magic is a cool and popular hobby for kids to take up. This is evidenced by the magic shows we see on our televisions by famous magicians such as Dynamo and Penn and Teller.

The biggest problem for a young person looking to learn magic is that it can be tricky to describe sleight of hand using only words and pictures. To solve this problem, Kristen and her dad made Abracadabra Fun Magic Tricks for Kids is a full interactive book with QR codes that link to videos showing the trick in action. The videos take the apprentice conjurer through the workings of the magic tricks and show some performance tips as well.

All the equipment needed to do the magic tricks can be made using stuff commonly found around the home. The making process is fun to do and grown ups are encouraged to help which makes Abracadabra Fun Magic Tricks for Kids a book that is fun for the whole family.

When Kristen was preparing her magician show for Warrington’s Got Talent, she looked around to find some good books to learn tricks from. She found that the books were sometimes a little too complicated and written for grown ups or, if they were magic books for kids, the tricks were not very good and wouldn’t fool anyone.

“I want to make a really good magic book for kids my age with magic that will blow grown ups away” said Kristen.

It seems Kristen found the perfect recipe as her book was snapped up by New York publishing house, Sky Pony Press.

The Kelly family is now counting the days until the big release. Kristen and Ken’s book Abracadabra! Fun Magic Tricks for Kids is available from 21st June 2016.

This is the world’s first multimedia magic book for kids where videos and downloads form part of the book.
If you know any budding magicians who would be interested in learning magic then you can reserve your copy of Abracadabra Fun Magic Tricks for Kids on Amazon or from your favourite bookstore.
