Magic Lessons #72 – Easy Card Force
This easy card force is another great technique you can use to force a card on your participant. The idea was given to me by a YouTuber called SuperCalebxy. He first came across this easy card force in an old book, but he doesn’t remember the title or the author of the book. If you know the history of this magic trick, you can contact me on social media or by email and I’ll post the details here.
The version shown in the tutorial is based on the time honored slip cut force where the pressure of your curled fingers holds the top cards in place as you take the top group of cards. It is a very secretive way to force a card.
Differences from Original:
The main difference in this iteration is the cards are generally flicked through from the shorter end of the deck that is facing the crowd. Usually for the slip cut, the cards are riffled through from the longer side of the cards.
The first card is secretly in-jogged previous to the move. This is a simple move to pull off. The provided video tutorial will give you some helpful insight on how to keep the audiences attention away from this.
If you were to talk to the more professional card handlers, they may say the move looks slightly unnatural. From experience I have found that this is only true for people who have a lot of experience with performing card magic. If you were to hand the cards to a regular civilian, you would find that everyone would have a slightly different way of cutting the cards. Many non magicians barely ever handle a deck of cards and they can look awkward in doing so.
Practice, Practice, Practice:
If you find that this technique feels good when you are performing, then continue using it and you will build confidence over time as you repeat the technique.
The angles are covered as your hands are tilted back. Hopefully you have found this easy card force helpful and remember to pass on any knowledge you may have of where it originated on to me.

Hi Julian,
Thanks for sharing this force. One suggestion for this, and your other videos, is, after you have gone through the slow explanations, I think you should do the entire move at normal speed one more time.
