Magic Lessons #40 – Magic Force Bag
The magic force bag is a great utility to have on hand for your routines. Once you have learned the basic principles behind it, there are so many possibilities for you to explore.
The clear magic force bag works well as an impromptu trick that you can use and perform anytime you are at someone’s house.
Handling the Magic Force Bag:
This magic force bag trick relies on you being comfortable with the way you handle the bag. Make sure you don’t make a big fuss about the bag and just handle it like you would any other bag and people will not feel inclined to look into the bag any further. Make sure the audience is placed in a position where they can’t grab the bag. This could be as easy as sitting them on the opposite side of a table from yourself.
There is no need to be unnecessarily fancy when making the bag. The simple way to construct the magic force bag is fine. I have used the same construction method dozens of times and there has never been a case where someone has suspected it was anything other than a normal plastic bag, that was holding bits of paper.
If You Want Something a Little Fancier:
If this worries this you, then the following method to weld the plastic seams together is nice and simple. You will need to experiment to find out what works for the style of bags that are being used.
Line up your bag(s) exactly as you want them. For the first edge where you need to join the bags, clamp the bags between two pieces of wood so that you have just a tiny bit sticking out (somewhere between 1mm and 2mm). The part that protrudes is the edge to be welded. Now, simply run a lighter down this edge at a slow but steady rate. The plastic will only melt together as far as the clamped area, where the pieces of wood will stop it, giving you a nice edge. Once you determine the correct speed, you’ll watch the plastic fuse together in front of your eyes. Do all three edges this way and you’ll end up with a perfect bag that looks great from up close.
